Frequently Asked Questions
We do not do tattoos.
Shorty's Fine Jewelry & Piercing is a piercing-only studio dedicated to providing each of our clients with an indivdualized boutique piercing experience that emphasizes high-quality practices and jewelry.
Piercings are our specialty!
Since our piercers have limited availability, and because we love to give our clients more than enough time to choose jewelry, ask questions, and feel relaxed during their procedures, we definitely prefer to work by appointment.
We do our best to accomodate walk-ins whenever possible if our schedule allows, but walk-in availability is not guaranteed.
We ask that everyone schedules an appointment by using our ONLINE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULER.

Healing a piercing depends on a few variables, including: Overall Health, location of the piercing, personal hygiene, diligence of after-care, and method of aftercare, just to name a few. Everyone heals differently and while some individuals heal quickly others may take a longer time to heal.
In an effort to keep with the general consensus of the piercing industry and as a member of the Association of Professional Piercers, I do adhere to their suggestions when it comes to proper healing of body piercings. You can find an easily readable link for body piercing aftercare HERE and oral piercing aftercare HERE, or you can download the downloadable print guides below.

Tips are never required, but are always appreciated!
Our pricing is set independently of gratuity, so tipping is completely optional.
If you love your new piercing and had a great experience, a tip is a wonderful way to show appreciation to your piercing artist.
Some clients may choose to tip around 10–20%, while others prefer flat amounts such as $10, $20, $50, etc.
There is no strict standard for tipping in the piercing industry, so ultimately, you should tip however much feels comfortable for you and your budget.
In lieu of or in addition to tips, 5-star reviews online are free and are another great way to show appreciation to your piercing artist! :)
We NEVER use piercing guns!
Piercing guns rely on blunt force to push jewelry through the skin, which can cause unnecessary tissue damage and complications.
Piercing guns also cannot be properly cleaned and sterilized, which can increase contamination risks from one client to the next.
Our studio follows strict professional aseptic techniques and hygiene standards.
We only use new, sterile, single-use needles and materials for each client.
Our piercing needles are extremely sharp and designed specifically to create a clean, precise opening for your jewelry, and are significantly less traumatic to the tissue than piercing guns. This results in a safer, smoother, and more comfortable piercing procedure and healing process thereafter.
